Martine Jomphe is a versatile and sought-after collaborative pianist from Fredericton, New Brunswick, with a deep passion for vocal arts—ranging from art song and opera to musical theatre.
She holds a Bachelor of Music with a minor in psychology from Mount Allison University, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Ottawa, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts in vocal accompaniment at the University of Montreal, where she studied with Francis Perron and Liz Upchurch.
Martine has participated in several prestigious development programs, including l’Académie Internationale Vocale de Lachine, Musique sur mer en Acadie, l’Académie de l’Été musical de Barachois, and Orford Music, where she received mentorship from renowned artists such as Susan Manoff, Wolfgang Holzmair, François Le Roux, Julien Leblanc, and Olivier Godin. She is also committed to the creation and promotion of new works.

In 2023, she was invited to workshop and perform in the premiere of Danika Lorèn’s song cycle Sappho: Tell Everyone. That same year, she co-founded Théâtre musical chez nous, a collective dedicated to promoting francophone musical theatre in Quebec.
In 2024, she accompanied their debut at the Montreal Fringe Festival, premiering Un dernier été, which earned the group the Frankie Award for Most Promising Emerging French Producer. In 2026, their production of Tic Tic… Boom has been awarded two Frankie Awards for Best French-Language Comedy and Outstanding French-Language Production. It was awarded a spot as part of The Montreal Comedy’s next season.

Martine has received several awards for both her artistic and academic work. As a recipient of the Independent Student Research Grant, she presented a project titled “But Art Belongs to the Unconscious: Schoenberg’s Atonality and Kandinsky’s Abstraction” at Mount Allison’s Department of Music Colloquium Series in 2018.
Most recently, she received a prestigious SSHRC doctoral grant for her ground-breaking research on Jewish composer Eli Rubinstein and his contributions to Montreal’s Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre.
Martine served as répétiteur and pianist for various productions, including The Turn of the Screw (University of Ottawa, 2021), La porteuse de feu (Université de Montréal, 2022), where she also served as musical director, and La fille du régiment, which she toured with Jeunesses Musicales in 2023.
As an artist in residence with the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal (2024-2026), she was rehearsal pianist for the world premiere of Le phare, assistant pianist for La bohème, Don Giovanni, Carmen, and rehearsed and performed with NACO in a collaboration with Atelier Lyrique for their production of Turn of the Screw in Spring 2026.
